Celebrating One Year of MKEfoodies

We've come to the end of 2011, and there's much to be thankful for!

We held our first MKEfoodies happy hour event in December, 2010 at Roots Restaurant and Cellar.  Since that time, we've hosted eight other fantastic events, an annual picnic, and two charity bake sales raising over $3000 for Cookies for Kids' Cancer.

The mission of MKEfoodies has always been to get people in the Milwaukee area to come together to support great independently owned restaurants.  In the past year, we've not only been able to meet that goal, but thanks to partnerships with, Yelp Milwaukee, and others we've also been able to expand our outreach to include some great new people.

In 2012, one of our goals is to get even more people to join us at our events.  So, please tell your friends!  MKEfoodies isn't an exclusive organization, and no membership is required. If you enjoy food and great conversations, and want to support Milwaukee's thriving dining scene, you're invited!  Follow us on Facebook and twitter (and right here at to keep up with all of our news and events!

We've been pleased to have so many restaurants step up to host events over the past year, and we have even more on the docket for 2012!

In January, we'll kick-off the new year with an awesome (and oyster-filled) event at Bartolotta's Harbor House on Tuesday, January 10th. See you there!  RSVP online.

#MKEfoodies Bake Sale Raises over $1200

You've got to love the great people of Milwaukee.  Not only are they kind-hearted and fun-loving.  But, they're generous to boot!

The MKEfoodies Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Bake Sale & Silent Auction took place this past Saturday at the Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery. It was a crisp winter day, so the Best Place provided a pleasantly warm respite for all the great people who came out to make a difference in the lives of children.  There were sweet treats, big hearts, and plenty of great stories shared among those who attended.

Thanks to the generosity of our 30+ bakers and awesome volunteers we were able to raise over $1200 for Cookies for Kids' Cancer.
Thank you, Milwaukee!
You are The Best Kind of Cookies!
